But first – which part of Port Lincoln is the best to stay in? There are two areas to consider.
First the centre of Port Lincoln, mostly around the foreshore with all the pubs, restaurants and shops nearby. This seems like a no-brainer, but there is another option and a good reason why you should choose it.
If you have come for shark diving in Port Lincoln, then the best place for accommodation is at the Port Lincoln Marina.
While it is around 4km from the city centre, it is only a short walk to either of the shark diving companies at 6am to get on the boat rather than coming from across the city.
So Which is the Best Place to Stay in Port Lincoln?
That really depends on what you are after, There are quite a few very comfortable options in Port Lincoln, but you are not going to find five star accommodation here.

The Port Lincoln Hotel
Port Lincoln Hotel is probably the most well known accomodation in Port Lincoln thanks to some local celebrities being involved in the redevelopment project a few years ago that made it what it is today.
It has everything you would expect in a four star hotel. Located right on the Port Lincoln foreshore in the middle of town, it couldn’t be positioned better.
There are three different areas to eat at from the upmarket Sarins Restaurant to more casual dining in the bars. Rooms accomodate up to three people.

Shark Apartments
The Shark Apartments are a group of three located in the Port Lincoln Marina area. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable, providing a kitchenette with cooktop and microwave to allow for meal preparation.
There’s a big screen TV and the free wifi is fast and reliable. These apartments are the best place to stay in Port Lincoln before shark cage diving as they are located on metres from both of the tour operators that run the tours.

Marina Hotel
The Marina Hotel is located, unsurprisingly, at the Port Lincoln Marina. It provides accomodation in a range of full-sized apartments in a separate building to what appears as the hotel.
All apartments contain a full kitchen and everything you need. Some have a spa bath, and some have balconies overlooking the marina.
The main hotel itself functions as a pub, with great meals available that are popular with visitors and locals alike.
The Marina Hotel is only a few minutes walk to both shark cage diving operators, with one of them boarding their boat right out the front.

Port Lincoln YHA is great for budget travellers both young and old. Of course there are the usual dorm rooms available, but there are also private rooms too, some with their own ensuite.

The Hilton Motel is a good three star motel offering right on the Port Lincoln foreshore. Many of the rooms have great views over Boston Bay.
