Port Adelaide accommodation ranges across all budgets and all styles, so take a read of where to stay in Port Adelaide and start planning your next visit.

Port Adelaide is becoming a desirable location to stay during your visit to Adelaide, particularly if you want to get out of the centre of the city and enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere.

Business travellers can find good accommodation much more conveniently located to the nearby industries on the Le Fevre Peninsula, while leisure travellers can enjoy all the great things to do in the area and the nearby beaches.

Port Adelaide has good transport links into the city with the train line running through the suburb and surrounding areas.

It is the starting point for the Port River Expressway that gives great access to the north of South Australia. In just 45 minutes, you can be sipping wine at a cellar door in the famed Barossa Valley.

This section will look at accommodation located right in the heart of Port Adelaide. You will be within walking distance of plenty of cafes, restaurants and pubs, shopping centres, and public transport into the city.

The future of accommodation in Port Adelaide is looking very promising.

Two new waterfront hotels have been proposed, and the old Marine and Harbours building is going to be turned into the Marine and Harbours Hotel which includes ten floating suites sitting in the Port River. Sounds exciting.

Where to Stay Near Port Adelaide

Here are some of the accommodation options in nearby suburbs just a few minutes from Port Adelaide. These all have various benefits, some are on the beachfront, some are better for families, and others are close to shops.

All are great places to stay in the Port Adelaide area.

Largs Pier Hotel

This is my pick of where to stay in Port Adelaide, and it’s also my recommendation if you are looking for a romantic place to stay. Located on the seafront at Largs Bay, not only does the Largs Pier Hotel have a great rock’n’roll history, but it has an iconic charm about it too.

Much of the grand hotel (see top photo) has been fully renovated, and the beautiful rooms upstairs in the main part of the hotel are spacious and comfortable with access to a balcony – the perfect place to sip a glass of wine as you watch the sun sink into the sea.

The rooms range from an entire suite which includes a dining room and a spa, to cheaper basic hotel rooms. The Largs Pier Hotel is open for meals all day, so it is easy to get breakfast, lunch or dinner on-site.

The four-star hotel has a range of very comfortable rooms from standard queen rooms up to suites that comfortably accommodate four people. There is free onsite car parking and free wifi throughout and a gym and swimming pool to relax in.

For fine dining just head downstairs to the acclaimed Crusoes Restaurant for a delicious fine-dining meal. There is also a more casual dining area in Knots Kitchen and coffee breaks can be had in My Neptunes Cafe.

Peninsula Hotel Motel

This is the newest accommodation offering in the area and the furthest from Port Adelaide. It can be found on Victoria Road at the top of the Lefevre Peninsula and is a great option if you are looking for somewhere close to stay the night before or after a cruise.

Once the Osbourne Hotel, The Peninsula has been almost entirely rebuilt from the ground up over the last few years including a completely new accommodation building.

The rooms have been decorated in a 50s/60s style, and have that road trip motel vibe. It’s not dusty and questionable though, these rooms are bright and spacious.

For those that require disability access, because this is a new building, they were able to build in all the essential features in the dedicated rooms.

There is a pool with tropical vibes, so pack your blow-up flamingo! You will also find a gym on-site, and meals are available in the adjacent hotel, where you will also find a bar, with their own “Peninsula Proud’ pale ale produced by a local craft brewery.

Peninsula Hotel Motel is an 8-minute drive from Port Adelaide.
